JAMB Warns Universities Not To Skip Any Semester

After the resumption of academic activities in public universities across Nigeria, the Joint Admissions and Admissions Board, JAMB, has issued tips for parents to communicate with the management of institutions varying in the case of academic programs for faculty members. JAMB is giving this advice amid a strike by the Academics Association of Universities (ASUU), a phenomenon that can cause confusion about how to proceed or disrupt programs while studying, and union work has continued.

JAMB has confirmed that it does not control the university admission process, but at the same time it does not impose cancellation or postponement of any admission. JAMB Chief Minister/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Isaac Oloydye, disclosed this shortly before the inauguration of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Association of Educational Institutions and Link, NASU, in Abuja yesterday.

He said interested universities, polytechnics or colleges of education should find a way to streamline all courses that existed before the ASU strike but were recently canceled. Acceptance of students falls within the individual university governing bodies, Oloyede said, noting that about three different sessions are conducted simultaneously by different universities and must be completed in the same time frame.

While some universities are still in the 2020/2021 academic session, others are in the 2021/2022 academic session and some are in the 2022/2023 academic session.
