UN Women – In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW, and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions:

1.) Programme Associate – Women Political Empowerment (WPE)

Location: Borno

Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:

  • Completion of Secondary Education required;
  • A bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender / Women’s Studies, International Development, or a related field is an asset
  • Project management certification would be an added advantage

Experience:

  • At least 6 years progressively responsible professional, in human rights, governance, or development, or 3 years with a bachelor’s degree, of which at least two years of professional experience in program/project implementation
  • Strong financial skills are an added advantage
  • Experience in implementing programmes for women’s political empowerment is a strong advantage
  • Experience in implementing multi-partner programmes, and proven experience in partnership building and networking
  • Strong facilitation, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of M & E of programmes, proven advocacy, analytical, and writing skills.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset.

2.) Project Technical and Coordination Specialist, Women Political Empowerment

Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, management, social sciences, or other related areas is required.

3.) Knowledge Management and Communications Associate

Location: Abuja

Required Skills and Experience
Education:

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; Or
  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) with two additional years of qualifying experience.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, print, broadcast, and/or media and social media.
  • Ability to contribute to the efficient and effective communications, visibility, and communication for development/social and behavior change communication
  • Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of knowledge management strategy for the county office
  • At least 4 years of professional experience working on gender equality and human rights, especially in the area of EVAWG;
  • Experience in communications with of one or several of the UN agencies in Nigeria is preferred;

4. National Consultant to Undertake Research to Generate Information that can Support Evidence-based Planning for Medium / Longer Term post-conflict Reconstruction Programmes on Gender Equality in Northeast Nigeria

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Science, Gender Studies, Peace and Security, Development, or related areas of study.

Experience:
