Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the cut-off marks during the 2026 policy meeting on admissions to DEGREE, NIGERIA CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION, and NATIONAL DIPLOMA – AWARDING INSTITUTIONS.
JAMB Cut-off Marks 2026/2027.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released cut-off points for this year’s admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics.
The minimum cut-off marks suggested by JAMB for admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and innovation enterprise are 160, 120, 100, and 100, respectively.
- Universities — 160
- Polytechnics — 120
- Colleges of Education — 100
- Innovation Enterprise — 100
Institutions are, however, at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB.
These decisions were taken at the 2026 Combined Policy Meetings on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said institutions, with the decision, are not to go below the minimum cut-off points adopted at the meeting for admissions.
According to him, “What JAMB has done is to recommend; We will only determine the minimum. Whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.
The board will ensure that the criteria set by the Senate are strictly adhered to by the institutions’ admission officers, and no shifting of goal posts in the middle of the admission exercise.

FAQs
1. What is the JAMB cut-off mark for the 2026/2027 academic session?
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) usually announces a general minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education each year. However, individual institutions are allowed to set their own cut-off marks as long as they do not go below the minimum approved by JAMB. For the 2026/2027 academic session, candidates are advised to score as high as possible since many competitive universities set higher cut-off marks than the national minimum.
2. Do all universities have the same JAMB cut-off mark?
No, universities in Nigeria do not have the same cut-off marks. While JAMB provides a national benchmark, each university determines its own departmental or institutional cut-off marks based on the number of applicants and the competitiveness of the course. For example, courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering often have higher cut-off marks compared to other programs.
3. Can I gain admission if my JAMB score is below the school cut-off mark?
In most cases, candidates whose scores fall below a school’s official cut-off mark may not be considered for admission into that institution or course. However, such candidates may still explore options like changing their course, applying to another institution with a lower cut-off mark, or considering admission through alternative programs such as pre-degree or diploma courses.
4. Where can I check the official JAMB cut-off marks for all schools?
Candidates can check the official JAMB cut-off marks through the JAMB portal, the official websites of their chosen institutions, or reliable education information platforms. Schools usually release their approved cut-off marks along with Post-UTME screening announcements for the 2026/2027 admission cycle.
