ASUU STRIKE UPDATES: Professor Emmanuel Osodeke Wails Out; The last date i Was Paid Was On February.

It has been affirmed that the two striking university unions, which are the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, have lamented the effect of the no-work-no-pay policy ensured by the Federal Government, saying it was meant to weaken their solidarity.

According to one of the statements from the National President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, he said that “the last time I received a salary was in February and I surely know this is a tactic of the Federal Government to weaken our solidarity.” However, all members of ASUU will remain steadfast and never back out of the strike until the government fulfills our demand, even if it requires us to farm and do menial jobs to survive.

Ngige thinks that our members will starve and become miserable and beg them, but we are not ready to beg them. We are willing to wait a year, two years, until they meet our demand.” He said.

A Professor of Linguistics at the University of Ibadan, Francis Egbokhare, also lamented that he had been without salary for five months.
