As a proactive approach against crimes and criminalities on campus, the University of Calabar, UNICAL Install CCTV On Campus.
The institution commenced the installation of CCTV Cameras in classrooms, lecture halls, offices, and hotels.
UNICAL Current VC, Prof Florence Obi, said the university believes in building blended security architectures combining security personnel on ground with the technology devices to effectively prevent crimes and criminalities in and around its campuses.
She said the university would not need to wait for crimes to be committed before taking a step but rather prevent crimes from being committed anywhere on campus.
She explained that the cameras unlike the ones on ground would capture faces of people and all their activities as well as the plate numbers of vehicles clearly, adding that such would help in solving crimes, generating data and in forensic analysis of criminal acts on campus.
It would be recalled that Professor Florence Obi promised that her administration would ensure that all abandoned projects by previous administrations would be completed.
She gave the assurance on Wednesday in Calabar after inspecting ongoing projects on campus as part of the activities to mark her one-year anniversary in office.
Earlier, Professor Florence Obi completed the UNICAL Law Faculty Building after 10 years of abandonment.
