Some students of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), have been kidnapped in Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Express Road, Enugu East local government area of Enugu State.
The students were resuming after spending eight months at home due to the strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Those who escaped the abduction narrated that the kidnappers attacked at least six commercial vehicles which they riddled with bullets and took the passengers inside a nearby bush.
The kidnappers have contacted the families and demanded for N30 million ransom.
A medical doctor that was released had to pay an undisclosed amount before he was set free.
The criminal activities took place despite about six security checkpoints between Nike and Opi junction.
The road is said to be a hotspot for kidnappers and all other criminal activities.
The same incident happens last month when some bandits kidnapped unspecified road users as the police claimed that two of the victims have been rescued.
