What is Cut Off Marks?

School cut off marks are the minimum marks you need to gain admission into a particular high school or college. These marks are set by the government and determined on the basis of your performance in school previously. When does a student know whether or not they have passed their cut off marks? How is cut off marks calculated?

Cutoff marks are calculated by converting the Maths marks to 100, Chemistry marks to 50, Physics marks to 50 and then adding them up. The cutoff total marks will be a maximum of 200. It is based on this cutoff publishes rank list of students and sets the order in which students apply for Engineering Admissions. Cutoff Mark (For 200) =  (Mathematics) + (Physics/2) + (Chemistry/2)
This formula to calculate cutoff is valid for those students who wrote their +2 exams after 2019, when total marks was 600

For example, a student scored the below marks in plus 2 examination
Mathematics – 80, Physics – 86 and Chemistry – 78
Cutoff Mark = (80) + (86/2) + (78/2) = 80 + 43 + 39 = 162

NPA Cut Off Marks

in as much as JAMB has not yet announced the cut-off mark for this year’s admission, the Academy has decided that only candidates who scored 180 and above in the UTME and purchased the Academy online Application Form will be eligible to sit for the Selection Examination. This is without prejudice to the cut-off mark to be eventually announced by JAMB.
