What are the Cut Off Marks?
School cut-off marks are the minimum marks you need to gain admission into a particular high school or college. These marks are set by the government and determined on the basis of your performance in school previously. When does a student know whether or not they have passed their cut-off marks? A student knows that once they pass their cutoff marks, they will be able to apply for admission into any other school in Nigeria.
The university cut-off mark is the number of marks that a student must have to be able to enter a university. There are different cut-off marks for each course, but they are all based on the passing grades and averages of previous students. A high school student should know how much they need in their grades to get into their top university choices.
How are cut-off marks calculated?
Cut-off Mark (For 200) = (Mathematics) + (Physics/2) + (Chemistry/2)
This formula to calculate the cut-off is valid for those students who wrote their +2 exams after 2019, when the total marks were 600
For example, a student scored the following marks in the Plus 2 examination
Mathematics – 80, Physics – 86, and Chemistry – 78
Cut-off Mark = (80) + (86/2) + (78/2) = 80 + 43 + 39 = 162
