After accepting a job offer, UNICEF staff receive consolidated, up-to-date information about their benefits and rights under their contract. Benefits may include:
Tax exemption: Salaries, grants and allowances paid by the UN to staff are normally exempt from income tax.
Family benefits: Depending on the type of your contract, you may be entitled to family benefits, including dependents’ benefits if you have an eligible dependent spouse and/or children and, under certain conditions, education allowance if you have eligible children at school.
Rental subsidy: IP employees may be eligible for a rent subsidy if they have recently arrived on duty and their rent is a very high proportion of their total pay.
Holidays and leave: Depending on your contract type, you are entitled to 18 to 30 days of holiday per year. In addition, the UN also holds 10 paid holidays per year. these vary from service to service station.
Health insurance: Staff are eligible to participate in one of the UN-sponsored health insurance schemes, which includes dental insurance. Monthly prizes are shared between you and the organization.
